Windows 8.1 On Jay

Purchased from Walmart on 2014-11-27 $99, delivered 2014-12-05?

CPU: Intel Baytrail-T CR Quad Core 1.8 Ghz
DDR: 1gb
Internal Memory: EMMC: 16GB
Expandable Memory: Micro SD up to 64GB >> San``Disk 32GB Installed (NTFS)
USB: 2.0
Display: 1200x800, 8"
Front Camera: 0.3 MP
Rear Camera: 2.0 MP

Where did the above come from??? PC says Intel Atom CPU Z3735G @ 1..33GH, 32 bit OS, 64 bit processor.

Came with Windows 8.1.

Installed HDHomeRun. Works, but lots of hesitation and pixilation apparently due to wireless bottleneck.

Got the W10 upgrade icon, reserved a copy. Then got a disk space warning, down to 7MB free space. Deleted Here Maps and a few other apps, free space up to 700MB. Biggest user is Windows folder at 8+GB. The SSD card is empty, seems only things that can be stored there are videos, music, and pictures.

Googled it, lots of complaints, no solutions. With W8.1, all apps must be stored on C: drive. Only about 11GB are available on the 16GB drive because of the recovery folder that cannot be deleted. Disk cleanup was unhelpful. Does not even seem to be a way to store HERE maps on the SSD card.

Cancelled the W10 upgrade.

Having much trouble right-clicking the windows start button with the stylus. Works well with a real finger.

Reset to Factory Settings to see how much free memory there was to start.

  • Windows Explorer says
    • C: 7.08 GB free of 10.7GB
    • D: 29.6GB free of 29.7GB
  • after installing ~80 updates saw the get W10 link:
    • C: 4.83 GB free of 14GB
    • D: 29.6GB free of 29.7GB
  • had to download W10 to D:. after installing Windows 10:
    • C: 4.85 GB free of 14.4GB
    • D: 25.6GB free of 29.7GB

Where did 4GB of free space come from after doing factory reset? Looks like W10 also wants to store all apps on C: drive. Seems to be in tablet mode, no Windows Explorer, no desktop mode.
