Device manager showed yellow mark on sound > AMD High Definition Audio Drivers. This prevented WMC from playing video e to lack of sound. Had to remove device with remove drivers box checked, then Action > Rescan Hardware to locate and download correct driver.

To get PC to wake from hibernation, had to set JUSB_PW2 to close 2-3 +5VSB. Had set Windows to wakeup from USB and BIOS to wakeup from USB earlier.

Got an error message saying WMC had an error downloading EPG (Electronic Program Guide). Guide had listing for 1003 - 1010, no data for everything else. Had to use Internet Archive Wayback Machine to see a copy of http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/09/clearing-guide-data-and-tuner-setup-from-windows-7-media-center.html

Inside Windows Explorer navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\ehome.

Inside the ehome folder you'll see a .db file as well as a folder marked mcepgX-X-X, these are the files that need to be cleared in order to reset our TV setup and guide data from Media Center. Now that the Media Center processes have been stopped you should be able to delete the .db file as well as the folder and it's contents to reset your TV setup to it's original state.

After deleting the files we'll want to restart the machine to ensure that all of the appropriate Media Center services are restarted. Afterward, open Media Center and enter the Setup Live TV option from the TV start menu.

That's all there is to it! Windows 7 Media Center has been restored to the original Live TV guide settings and you can start fresh. Be sure to bookmark Hack7MC as well to find all the tips and information you need for your Windows 7 Media Center!

There were 4 versions of .db files and folders. I deleted only the newest hoping to save the scheduled recording somehow. No luck, had to run setup again, edit channel lineup, and reschedule all recordings.

2017-07-06 to 2017-05-15

Started with guide data for only network channels on 07-06, then no data at all on 07-15.

Started a free 7 day trial with Schedules Direct, required for EPG123.

Downloaded and installed EPG123. Installation was a little confusing, may have missed a Save & Execute button and maybe chose a wrong channel selection. Wound up with 10,000 channels, most with no station. Edited channel lineup, seems to work OK.

All prior recording are still available, but all scheduled recordings have been lost.

Subscription is $25 per year, hopefully will work better than Rovi.

Received messages that epg guide data had less than 3 days remaining, offered option to download, then immediate message that guide was updated, ... repeat.

Tried to manually run guide, seemed to fail immediately with no output, sometimes had a popup saying it was already running.

Fiddled with options, no joy, then next morning schedules were updated during my fiddling time???

Updated EPG123 to version 1.1.11.

TODO: start EPG126 after 6 PM to see if the update ran successfully.

Received messages that epg guide data had less than 3 days remaining, offered option to download, then immediate message that guide was successfully updated (was not), ... repeat. Again.

Fiddled with epg123, upgraded to version 1.2.3. Finally went through WMC setup and got the schedule updated, but lost all the scheduled recording, prior recording left intact. Possible error in epg123 docs - it says reply no to MS license but after that it refuses to set up HDHomeRun tuners. Replied yes and everything seems fine.

TODO: verify we have Schedules Direct guide data and not Rovi. A clue is we still have episode numbers, another clue is schedule is 2 weeks, not 3 weeks.

Was using Rovi schedule. Spent another 6 hours trying to get EPG123 working with Schedule Direct. No joy.

Found a error message in trace.log that started on 7/28 and repeated every week. This went away after doing a clear cache.

Downloaded version 1.2.4 and installed. There is a epg123.mxf file in the epg123 folder dated 7/28. This never gets updated but there is a /epg123/output/epg123.mxf file that does get updated. Tried Client Setup, Rebuild WMC Database, Manual Input buttons, nothing seemed to work. Finally redid WMC setup and went back to Rovi guide.
